DROMIN NATIONAL SCHOOL
Partnerships
ASF schools work in partnership with others to promote a physically active school community. Partnerships within and outside the school are an important aspect of the Active School Flag. When a school participates in the Active School Flag Programme, it is vital to interact and engage with other organisations and clubs.
Local Partnerships
We are very lucky in Dromin National School to have fantastic links with local sporting clubs within our parish like Dromin UTD, St. Kevins GFC, Lannléire GFC, Dunleer Athletic Club and many more. These clubs provide great support to our school in many ways and especially in terms of allowing us to use their facilities.
We invite sports clubs, athletes and physical activity providers from the local community to talk to the children or to give taster sessions of their activity and we constantly try to raise awareness of the variety of ways in which people can be physically active.
This year we have Ryan Burns, a Louth Senior footballer coming to our school for 6 weeks to undertake ‘Move to Improve.’ Move to Improve is a fun based, active program that focuses on the development of kid’s vital motor and social skills. Move to Improve also promotes kids involvement in multi sports, many of which are not given enough exposure.
This will help to increase the ratio of
kids who continue an active,
healthy lifestyle into their teens
What Club Are You In?
6th Class completed the What Club Are You In? survey which gave us an idea of all the clubs and sporting activities that our students take part in. Here are the results
well done to 6th Class for all their hard work on this!
The St Kevin’s Senior Championship Camogie Winners visited us in October with their Championship Trophy. A lot of the team were past pupils of our school. What an inspiration to the children of Dromin NS!
